TECHNICAL TEAM STARTED TRAINING FOR USE OF THE BUILDER CURRICULUM TOOL
A training session to the technical team of the National University of Pilar (UNP) was developed this morning in the framework of the installation and use of the Curriculum Builder tool in the platforms or Virtual Classrooms of the UNP.
The person in charge of this training was the Ing. Ana González Ricardo from CICCO. Mr. Sergio Mareco, Director of Computer Science of the UNP, explained that in all the Faculties, the teachers use the Virtual Classroom, and what the Curriculum Builder tool does, (installed on the Virtual Classroom platform of the UNP), is that each teacher who enters their subject in the Virtual Classroom, has direct access to the CICCO Library.
«For example, I create module 1, Programming Language, so, I see the content of my subject and I go to look within CICCO for everything related to programming language and it gives me the possibility to choose several books, papers, or articles that I think are convenient and that will help me develop that module. Once I frame all that, goes within the platform as a bibliography, then the student can directly develop an activity based on the bibliography. Our deficit is the library, then the teacher can already arrange what the student is going to read and the teacher can see who are the students who come to read the materials to do the work”, he remarked.
He said that the aforementioned tool will allow all the teachers of the UNP in the Virtual Classrooms to upload the most updated materials, books, papers, scientific articles that exist in the world.
The Curriculum Builder also offers the possibility of reviewing the statistics, including which of the courses and educators of your institutions are using this tool and how many readings are included.
He mentioned that the CICCO (Scientific Information Center of Conacyt) is the one that made the selection, so that 25 universities in the country, including the National University of Pilar, use this service for one year at no cost. «When this period ends, we would talk about continuity and we will know if the Conacyt will finance part or all of the service for the Universities», Mareco said.
He argued that the interest of the technical team is to know the tool, be used and be aware of its benefits taking advantage of this option at no cost for a period of one year.
He also said that next Monday they will present the tool to the Institutional Management Team (EGI) and the Higher University Council, to later elaborate a calendar for the training of the teachers.
